Expectant Mothers
Medical clearcance is not required for expectant mothers providing there are no complications and a medical certificate is carried between weeks 28 - 36 weeks for one baby and 28 - 32 weeks for two or more babies.
The certificate stating that there are no complications - In good health - and expected date of delivery must be completed by the treating doctor or nurse. Midwife's certificates must also state that the passenger is * Fit to travel *.
It would be helpful, if the certificate was dated within the previous four weeks of the date of travel. This may not always be appropriate and therefore not a strict rule.
For urgent medical or compassionate reasons please be aware, that clearance will only be given in extremely, exceptional circumstances.
Expectant mothers may - very - exceptionally be carried after the limting dates, but only with the consent of the BA Passenger Medical Clearance Unit and only for urgent medical reasons.
Passengers travelling from the Scotish Highlands and Islands may travel at any time to the UK mainland to have their babies in hospital.
If travel is within 7 days of the expected delivery date, they must travel with a qualified nurse. |
