Name Changes

With immediate effect the following name change policy applies:

For trade tickets:

Before any ticket is issued you may change up to 3 digits of a name yourself.

Please refer to the policies of your GDS for more information.

When a ticket is issued, in any case, the ticket needs to be reissued by BA against a fee of CHF60, payable by credit card. If the change involves more than 3 letters, British Airways must ammend the name in the booking and you are not allowed to update the PNR with the correct name.

Before ticketing:

Inputs for name change:
Amadeus: NU1/1TEST/KAROLINE MRS
Sabre : -1@TEST/KAROLINE MRS (@ is used for the change key)
Galileo : N.P1@TEST/KAROLINE MRS (@ is used for the change key)
Worldspan: -@TEST/KAROLINE.MRS

After ticketing

1) Once the ticket has been issued, BA tickets are non-transferable.

If an e-ticket has already been issued then the ticket will have to be refunded per the fare rules of the ticket, and then a new booking made using the correct name.

To eliminate any difficulties, you must take care to spell the customer's name correctly, ensuring that the name in the PNR is as the name on the passport. We would also recommend you add the full first name rather than an initial.

2) In instances where a name correction is required and documents can be provided to prove that there is no change of passenger, BA might decide to do the amendment of the e-tickets e.g. customer has made a reservation in their married name, but the passport still shows the maiden name.

3) When the itinerary contains segments on other carriers, the applicable carriers name change policy will also apply, this includes codeshare flights. Generally this means no name change can be actioned by BA, under any circumstances.

4) Once travel has commenced, name changes are not permitted under any circumstances.

5) The reissue service fee will be applied to cover the additional cost when reissuing tickets due to the correction of a name. This is the same cost charged to customers using direct channels to reissue a ticket due to a name correction.
