Liquid policy - Turkey

With effect from 01 March 2009 Turkey will introduce liquid limitations in hand baggage matching the EU standard.

Passengers departing from Turkey (BA operate from IST, ADB and AYT) will be allowed to carry only limited quantities of certain liquids, gels and pastes. (These may include shampoo, creams, hair gel, hair spray, suntan lotions, toothpaste, liquid or aerosol deodorants, perfumes, cosmetics such as mascara and lip-gloss, water and other drinks, soups and syrups and other items of a similar consistency).

• Liquids must be in individual containers with a capacity of no more than 100ml (3.5 fl.oz.)

• All containers must be carried in a separate clear plastic, zip-top or re-sealable bag of maximum dimensions 20cm x 20cm (8in x 8in) or equivalent to 1 litre capacity.

• Items must fit comfortably inside the bag and the bag must be completely closed.

• The plastic bag must fit inside the passenger's hand baggage.

• At the airport security search the plastic bag must be removed from the hand baggage and x-rayed separately.

Duty Free Goods for passengers transferring at LHR or LGW

Duty free goods containing liquids purchased at airside duty free shops in Turkey may not be taken through transfer security points at other EU airports.

Duty free liquid items purchased onboard EU airlines can be taken through transfer security points at other EU airports providing that ‘no more stringent measures’ apply.

Items must be placed in a 'tamper-evident' bag with the receipt attached to the bag or placed inside so that it is easily readable.

The bag must remain sealed until the passenger has reached their final destination. Any bag that is opened prior to this is liable to be confiscated at the security checkpoint.
